We all know that when it comes to icons, there is perhaps no more iconic vehicle from Chevy than the Corvette Stingray. That’s what makes us even more excited to bring you the special edition 2022 Corvette Stingray. You heard that right! To help celebrate the dominance that the Corvette C8.R had, Chevy wanted to give back to their customers by offering a special edition, a two new exterior colors, and even some spoiler options. This kind of dedication to the craft, and racing legacy, is why we’re so incredibly excited to delve deeper into what this special edition Stingray can offer you. Can you talk about the racing season?
To understand why Chevy has created this special edition, it’s important that we bring you back to the race season that inspired all of this. Both Antonio Garcia and Jordan Taylor drove a convertible and coupe No. 3 Corvette Stingray Championship Editions across the Belle Isle's MacArthur Bridge and onto the track. Even teammate, Nick Tandy, led the track with a Corvette Stingray. Across the entire championship series in the 2020 year, six victories were captured, including seven pole positions. There were even fastest class race laps set in six different events. Chevy even managed to win its 13th (since 2001) GT Manufacturers title. That kind of superiority has to be rewarded.
What about the special edition?
The reward for everything that the championship series brought along is the IMSA GTLM Championship Edition. This special edition is based on the 3LT trim, and even features a Z51 Performance Package. Each of these cars comes with Corvette racing-themed graphic packages. You’ll also find splash guards, black side rockers, exterior mirrors in Carbon Flash, Black Trident design wheels, yellow brake calipers, and a high-wing spoiler in Carbon Flash. There is a lot to love about the design of this commemorative special edition Stingray.
Has anything else been added?
Beyond the addition of this new special edition, the 2022 Stingray lineup also features three new exterior colors that you can choose from. These colors include Amplify Orange Tintcoat, Caffeine, and Hypersonic Gray. You’ll even find a new low-profile rear spoiler, along with a Z51 design front splitter. The engine is even receiving a boost, thanks to an upgraded direct injection fuel system, and an enhanced Active Fuel Management range. No to mention the fact that the cargo compartments now offer up to 12.6 cubic feet of cargo volume!
