What we mean by pack smart is to not forget some of the necessities. Snacks, for one, are always a good thing. You never want to have to make unnecessary stops along the way if you already have some of the family’s favorites. However, we also mean to prepare for anything else that could happen. This means including a jumper cable with the rest of your cargo, or even something like an ice scraper if you’re traveling to a place that does get snow and ice. We’ll also suggest a flashlight, batteries, and wireless chargers.
Add extra travel time
Weather can be unpredictable this time of year, especially if you’re driving to a cooler climate. The best thing you can do to keep yourself, and other travelers, safe, is to add extra time to your travel plans. You never want to be rushing anywhere, as this can cause you to make hastier decisions that you might not otherwise need to be making. By allowing yourself more time, you can enjoy the ride more than ever before.
Plan your route
Before you even leave, and maybe before you even service your vehicle, you’ll want to plan the route you’re going to be taking. You can even figure out where you want to stop for gas, where you want to stop for lunch, or anything in-between. If the drive is long enough, you might want to stretch your legs at a tourist attraction that you’ve always wanted to see.
