The base engine, a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-4, generates up to 160 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. Chevrolet pairs this engine with a continuously-variable automatic transmission. The Premier trim level houses a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine that pumps out 250 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. This engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. The next engine offered is a 1.6-liter turbocharged inline-4 that produces up to 180 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. Both of these engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The final engine offered is a 2.0-liter inline-4 that works with a permanent-magnet AC electric motor for a total system output of 192 horsepower. This hybrid engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Features & Design

There are just four Sonata trim levels offered for the 2020 model year. The base SE model comes outfitted with Apple and Android smartphone integration, driver assistance features, and an 8-inch touchscreen.
